Ingredients

  • One 8″ chocolate cake layer
  • 1 cup of hot fudge
  • 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream
  • 14 Oreos
  • 1 pint of heavy whip cream
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp of powdered sugar

Instructions

Don’t be intimidated by a long list of instructions. Just because you’re a beginner chef doesn’t mean you won’t be able to handle it.

We’ve separated the how-to portion of our ice cream cake recipe into short steps that anyone can follow.

So, go one by one until you prepare the dessert of the summer.

Step 1

First, get the 8-inch pan you prepared and line it with plastic wrap. Make sure all of the edges are covered.

Then, use a scoop to transfer the entire pint of ice cream to the pan. Flatten it out into one of the cake layers, cover it with plastic, and freeze again.

Step 2

Next, it’s time to make chocolate layers. Many people go for their favorite chocolate cake recipe and try one of those layers in an ice cream mix.

We advise you do the same. Once you prepare the 8-inch layer of chocolate, you can proceed to step 3.

Step 3

You can start working on this step only when the ice cream has gotten complicated and the cake layer has cooled off. If that’s the case, start working.

Place the chocolate layer on a serving plate, pour the hot fudge, and sprinkle chopped Oreos over the entire cake surface.

Now, take out the ice cream, and place it on top of the cake. Now it’s time for another cool-down.

Cover all your cake layers with plastic and place them in the freezer until you need them next time.

Step 4

No, this isn’t the simplest ice cream cake recipe, but it will surely be worth the trouble.

You can’t make everything with only your hand, but luckily we have our electric helpers. It’s time to bring out the mixer!

Get the previously prepared sugar, vanilla extract, and cold whipping cream and combine them using the whisk attachment on your mixer. Always start on low speed, then work your way up.

Let the mixer work until the cream starts forming very soft peaks. Then you can go on to step 5.

Step 5

Bring out the cake from the freezer once again. Now, it’s time to cover it with the whipped cream you just prepared.

Firstly, smooth out the top and the side. Then, you can use a piping bag to decorate.

The classic method would be to use a starred end and create decorations along the edge of the cake.

You can use hot fudge or melted chocolate to add contrast to the composition buy spotify plays. Also, a few crumbled Oreos will look and taste excellent paired with our cake layers.

Don’t be afraid to improvise with the finishing touches. Let your imagination go wild and add the thing your guests will love.

So, give it a go, no matter if that’s rainbow or chocolate sprinkles, more ice cream, or caramel sauce!

Step 6

Once the cake is prepared, leave it in the freezer. We advise taking it out and leaving it at room temperature for about 15 minutes before slicing.

It will make your work easier.

Ice Cream Cake Recipe – Extra Tips

With a few of our extra tips, making this ice cream cake will go a bit smoother. Follow our advice, and you’ll have no problems with any of the steps.

  • Soften the ice cream

It’s a lot easier to work with soft ice cream. So, before you think about adding any to the cake layers, make sure it is soft enough to shape and layer.

  • Warm up the knife

Though this may seem unconventional, warming your knife will make working with this cake easier. Running the blade under hot water will allow it to go through the ice cream layer easier, and you won’t have to struggle with slicing the cake.

  • Work in a cold environment

Try working in a cold kitchen. If your working area is warm, the ice cream will melt, and you’ll have to put the cake back in the freezer between each step.

So, make things easier for yourself and work somewhere a bit colder than usual.

  • Leave extra plastic

When lining the cake pan with plastic wrap, make sure to leave some extra hanging out of the pan.

This way, you can use the hanging pieces to lift the cake easier.

How Do I Store This Cake?

Storing this cake doesn’t work like most others. Simply leaving it in the fridge will melt the main ingredient.

Instead, keep this ice cream cake in the freezer. Take it out only 30 minutes before you wish to cut and consume the dessert.
