We’ve even separated the how-to into simple steps that anyone can follow.

But first, let’s see what this autumn salad requires.

Ingredients

  • One apple (in thin slices)
  • 3/4 cups Walnuts (cut in halves)
  • 8 cups Red leaf lettuce (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup Red onion (in thin slices)
  • 1/3 cup Feta cheese

For the Vinaigrette, you’ll need:

  • 2 tbsp Balsamic vinegar
  • 1/3 cup Olive oil (extra virgin)

  • 1 tbsp Mustard (Dijon)
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

The Homemade Bread Rolls With Sesame Seeds Hamburger

This apple walnut salad has two main steps. First, you need to make the vinaigrette. Then you can proceed and assemble the salad.

Step 1 – Making the Vinaigrette

Firstly, get a small bowl you’ll use to mix and store the prepared vinaigrette.

Then, add the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey, and mustard into the bowl. Whisk the ingredients until they blend together.

Add some salt and pepper for extra seasoning, and of course, try your mixture. If it tastes right, proceed to the next step and make your first salad with apples and walnuts.

Step 2 – Preparing the Salad

You’ll need a bigger bowl this time. Once you’ve prepared it, add the apples, lettuce, walnuts, red onions, and feta inside the bowl.

Combine all the ingredients and drizzle everything with the vinaigrette you prepared previously.

The recipe will leave you with extra vinaigrette, but you don’t have to waste it since it’s easily stored. Make sure it’s refrigerated in a closed container, and it will be good for at least another week.

And there you go, you’ve made your first salad with apples and walnuts.

Extra Tips

  • Switching out the red leaf lettuce for something similar is acceptable. Romaine lettuce and spinach will pair equally well with the rest of the recipe.
  • If walnuts aren’t your favorite nut out there, feel free to switch things up. Some people prefer pumpkin seeds or pecans for a recipe of this kind.
  • Gala is our favorite apple sort for this recipe. However, feel free to use any kind you can get your hands on.
  • If you wish to carry this to work, making the meal ahead won’t be an issue.

Prepare everything the night before and leave it in the fridge, but don’t add the vinaigrette and the apples to the mix. Instead, pour the balsamic and the fruit once you’re ready to serve.
